Expiration of contact lenses

The expiration date of the contact lens provides the ultimate period for which the lens is viable and indicates the life of the contact lens. Expiration is always stated on the blister and box of contact lenses and is marked with an hourglass, or EXP. The lenses are usually shipped with an expiration date longer than 18 months. Each lens is stored in a blister package and is sterile until opened.
